Re: Today, a bit sad and depressed about my airhead

Might sound like a stupid question, but what are the "SPs"? For the Helicoil, the hole looks nice and straight, no hope of finding remaining threads... Taper thread plug? You are refering to a new plug right? Because the one I have on it now is not tapered. As for nearby friends, I'm prett...

Re: Today, a bit sad and depressed about my airhead

Ahhh OK! But I thought I was measuring something with the old BMW manual I picked up on the web. It said something like 2mm above an indicator put in that hole... Which I found strange because there are various heights at which you can insert a stick in there. So do you think I can redrill for a Hel...

Re: Today, a bit sad and depressed about my airhead

So then, considering the amount that I have lost yesterday, the gearbox level should be on the low side now right? Will check tonight.

Re: Today, a bit sad and depressed about my airhead

OK, I see where you are pointing at, it's just that when I got the bike, I rode her about 50 miles on that first day, and no oil leaks. This started after, when I checked my levels. Shaft drive was OK, and final drive was OK. When I put the plug back in on the drive shaft filler hole, that's where I...

Today, a bit sad and depressed about my airhead

Hello again... I'm in for a tap on the back... Let me just give you a very quick recap of where I'm at and what I'm going to do... 1976, R75/6 Purchased 3 weeks ago, in a "running" state... ( I just wanted to get through summer before doing a big job on her this winter...) So, after a lot ...

Re: A few more questions for 1976 R75/6

Well, Melville, I don't think we are talking about the same sound here, but it does give me the idea of trying to record it! Quick question : I'm getting a timing light in order to do a proper timing of the bike... and in the procedure, I'll get to the carb syncing. I've stumbled upon one or two sit...

Re: A few more questions for 1976 R75/6

The hot cylinder is the one I didn't take appart, and the one that presented the best compression when I purchased it. But considering all this, I will be taking it appart pretty soon I think... So for the noise then... What do you suggest I do? Is it plausible/safe to ride with a buddy that tries t...

A few more questions for 1976 R75/6

Hello all! I've working on the bike, and things are falling into place, but there are a few things that still boggle me... I need some help. Biggest issue for me at the moment is this noise that "I think" is coming from the left side. It only happens when I ride, as soon as I got around 10...

Re: No fire!!!

Oh! Another quick question : the coils on my 1976 R75/6, they are 12 Volts right? Not the 6 Volts one from the VW's right?

Thanks

Re: No fire!!!

So, I got the tank off, didn't find anything there... Pulled the generator cover in order to start Duanes procedure. First thing : about a teaspoon of water came out of the cavity where the points are ... :-( Can't be good right? Second thing, the wire to the points had the mesh insulation badly fra...
