Re: When a Valve Cover stud Time Sert fails?

My dealer did the first thread repair on my R65 around the 2nd year.
I probably thought tightening it would solve an oil leak.

Also, double gaskets worked for me. I gave up on the center studs and just used the two outboard 10mm.

I never did get around to trying the silicone gaskets.

Back to the intent of the thread....

Check out the 2017 R Nine T Racer
Oh! The power shake! I had forgotten about that! Looks like I will be shopping for a new airhead!

That's a neat picture, Rob. Wonder where they came up with that name?
The original department store was named "Ayres", after the founder.

Ayr-Way was their version of the discount store.
Think K-Mart, or maybe S. S. Kresge...

Re: Tranny output seal

Nothing to do with your issue. Your name reminded me of this old store chain:

Also something to do with helping choking victims... ;)

Re: Tranny output seal

All I have to add (I have never replaced one of these seals in my life) is I remember hearing that this gearbox output seal is installed "backwards" of what logic might imply.

I suppose that means that the seal lip goes toward the inside of the gearbox?
