Aircooled T
Hey guys. I've just printed up a small run of Tshirts for like minded folk. If you're interested send me a Pm and I'll send you some info. I'm not a commercial vendor or anything, just like typography and wanted to get some shirts printed up for fellow airhead riders representing their passion 8-) S...

Re: R100 right side clack
I'll pull it apart again this weekend. I'm pretty sure they're good.
If those heads fit - I'm in as they're complete

Re: R100 right side clack
So I've located 93 barrels and heads from a GSPD, but guessing these won't fit. I'd probably still be keen on using the Pistons, but question is, will the late heads bolt onto the early barrels?

Re: R100 right side clack
After I saw the damage I put her back together for the day. I reckon the bits fell out = then when I did the jump starts it caused the main damage. Seems like the bore is ok because the piston just jammed there >> could only see hone marks. Yeah I think I'll probably try to find matching barrels, pi...

Re: R100 right side clack
Here it is. Full destruction of valve seat. So, it started with a misdiagnosis.. I'm guessing the valve adjustment held it together. When I went to start it the slow valve movement probably caused the pieces to fall out and then have a party on the piston and head. So. I guess I could try and find a...

Re: R100 right side clack
Thanks for the replies. Let's travel to the past. When the bike first made the noise I had been in traffic for 30 mins and it was wafting heat at me for sure.. I wouldn't say overheating though - the heads have never felt red hot. I put it on the side stand to open the gate, so it was idling for may...

Re: R100 right side clack
Hi - thanks for that guys - I will join in for sure. So. I got the bike fixed. It ended up one valve was 2.4mm out ! But how did that happen suddenly? They couldn't explain it. So they fixed the adjustment and balanced the carbs. I picked it up and was running very smooth but down on power.. just fe...

Re: R100 right side clack
It's bound to be anyway Charlie ;) Steve - I'm in Brunswick. Here's a pic of my bike.. lots to go, will shorten the rear subframe and building under tail exhausts. I don't run the front fairing much inner city - I like the illusion the bike is shorter in the traffic ;) http://i1150.photobucket.com/a...

Re: R100 right side clack
Hey guys - thanks for the in depth responses. It's a '81 RT.. pretty original, not a bitsa. It idles well and quiet. This noise happened suddenly, not gradually. After I heard it I decided to ride up and down the street slowly. It seems under load the noise is enhanced from a loud tappet like noise ...

Re: R100 right side clack
Engine oil is close to full. I didn't check clearances.. but how would they be affected instantly?
I heard a similar noise on youtube and it ended up being a piston sleeve that came loose.
