Re: Just bought my first airhead!

Some of us have experience with the later models. What to watch for, weekly inspections, weak points, etc. Just let us know how we can help. Generally with a bike in this condition, its BIGGEST fault is that it hasn't been really ridden recently. Top up the tires with the proper air, fill it up with...

Re: Handelbars.

...it is not fine to drill aluminum bars - get your facts right before you post on what is a safety matter with potentially serious consequences! It all depends upon the diameter of the drilled hole ! Drilling a 16mm hole in 22mm bars is a definite no-no, while drilling a 3mm hole is probably OK. R...

Re: Handelbars.

I might have a RT instrument bracket Wobbly, yours for postage cost from Oz. No idea what that is, but my guess would be around USD20? If they're thin on the ground..it's there. To be sure, I should get dimensions to check. That's if I have one, but I think I do somewhere in a box of bits. I'll che...

Re: Buying 100RT with sidecar?

That's an R100RT made no earlier than 1981 with an extensive (probably $8000 US) conversion to sidecar. If you are looking for a side car rig, that's an excellent choice. If you are looking for a 2 wheeler, you couldn't afford to convert this bike back. Additionally, the early date tells me someone ...

Re: Stinky boot

Both wires are brown so I conclude that the switch completes a circuit by providing ground when the switch is engaged. The light goes off if I disconnect one wire but stays on whether the bike is in gear or not when both wires are connected. Is there a way I can test the switch without removing it?...

Re: Front Brake Light Not Coming On

Welcome aboard ! Your test process is well thought out and will tell you what you what to know. Your issue is most likely corrosion on the 2 switch contacts caused by brake fluid, or a bad hydraulic switch. Since the original electrical system was designed and supplied by Bosch, lots of the switches...

Re: Handelbars.

I see you're still using the forward mounting holes on the upper clamp. If you switch to an RT gauge mounting bracket, you can move your bars back to the rear mounting holes. Shorter reach without raising the bars, and giving more room within the fairing. It took a while, but I figured that out. I ...

Thanx Kurt!

I couldn't find that one. I suck @ fleabay.
Do an "Advanced Search" and check off that you only want closed items. That will show you what items finally sold for and how many hits they got.

Re: Handelbars.

Yeah, I thought so. To get the same thing from HeliBars would be well over $500. I typically get the Honda bars off Ebay for under $25 and add about 2 hours of my time to customize them. Another great thing is that they are already 22mm and not 7/8 inch, so the controls don't need to be modified at ...
