Re: Ride Report: Bethanga, Melbourne, Barry Way and Talbingo

I just made this picture my computer desktop background. Haha, thanks, The Princess is flattered. Charlie's got the high res version of that image if it came out pixelated on the desktop. Hans She'llbe and I got talking to some locals on the day of leaving. They told us that a km upstream there is ...

Re: Keeping your hands warm in cold riding weather.

Good thread topic Steve, after reading it I've just spent the last half an hour searching on Advrider (cos its such a good gear-whore site) for reviews and other options. A few more threads to go through yet but the main contenders for the overglove thing, which appeals to me, is the NZ made 'Rain-o...

Re: Ride Report: Bethanga, Melbourne, Barry Way and Talbingo

Yep, a bit nippy would describe it inadequately. And remember, at heart, I'm a north coast boy too who just seems to have gotten himself stuck down the bottom here. And no, neither of us have heated grips. I put a lot of thought into it after that ride (I think I would like to upgrade the charging s...

Re: Ride Report: Bethanga, Melbourne, Barry Way and Talbingo

Good telling Charlie, I'll only add a couple of things. Dinner the last night of the hut had me scratching my head too... then I remembered the tortilla a la española . Dutch creams, lots of onion, the remaining bacon, the remaining olives (pitted this time), some thyme and other seasonings, slowly ...

Re: Ride Report: Bethanga, Melbourne, Barry Way and Talbingo

Cheers Peter, let me know what you think if you give it a try. I'll happily add a few more details such as spice ratios by email or something if you want. It can of course be altered greatly. The spice mix, and keeping as many of them as possible whole, is pretty central for me. As is a fair bit of ...

Re: Ride Report: Bethanga, Melbourne, Barry Way and Talbingo

Aside from different bars I have considered finding or making up some extended bar risers. My feeling is that they need to be higher and possibly wider with the grips more flat to each other relatively Something like this? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Handle-bar-risers-kit-200mm-TAG-bar-/190446088108?pt=...

Thanks fellas, We are getting there slowly Max... slowly  Firewood, of course, this was cut by Charlie with his Swiss army knife wood saw ;) amazing little gadget that! The real story is a little bit cheekier... Now, what first... the unladen runs down the Barry Way were always great fun as...

Re: Ride Report: Bethanga, Melbourne, Barry Way and Talbingo

Peter, Ross said he has a whole bucket of bar options. I didn't pay too much attention to the details, rather just that there will be a fair few to look at and compare. RS, RT... and many slight variations. I am interested in looking at a set of GS or even ST bars, but alas he sold his set of GS bar...

Re: Ride Report: Bethanga, Melbourne, Barry Way and Talbingo

Excellent guys... looking forward to more. I trust you guys are joining us on the 25th up at Fingal Head? Phil is riding his oilhead up from Adelaide, and I'm taking the F650 up on Friday 24th. C'mon.... more.... Not a chance for me either Ian. I've got way too much to do, all the stuff that finish...

Re: Ride Report: Bethanga, Melbourne, Barry Way and Talbingo

Alright, in the writing of this, I've crossed posts with Charlie, so forgive me, but we are doubling up a bit. so, we've bunkered down in the hut. The bedroom huts roof has been re-secured, the dunnies roof wired down, the bikes secured down and covered, the front window patched with orange plastic ...
