Re: Lifter and rocker wear
Gday Charlie, (and wow, this thread is moving quick- I've typed slowly and previewed a few times and the posts keep on rolling in_ I've been looking into camshafts and lifters/followers lately as I am going to swap the camshaft in the G/S (to a 296 degree shaft... don't ask.. :) ) Being about to put...

Re: Heated grips.
For a follow up, the heated grips were wonderful on the way up to the alpine rally. The back of my hands were still cold, but the insides were toasty warm- not perfect, but kind of like sitting around a fire in a very cold place... like the alpine rally... with a warm front and cold back. Either way...

Re: Speaking of the Alpine Rally......
I'm home safe too, had a nice run from Charlie's on some old and some new roads, from a dash on the highway to some lovely steep and spectacular new dirt roads. A bit of everything. Thanks for a great weekend guys, I'm looking forward to the next one. Thoughts of course are going out to Pete for his...

Re: Heated grips.
No probs Jeff, I think any of those cheap ebay heated grips pads would do just fine- and from China will be a 1/4 the price of any shop price. As I understand it the point of failure is most likely to be where the wire connects to the pad- it is just a soldered join onto a flexible plastic pad- made...

Re: Heated grips.
A little while back after being alerted by the adv 'look what I found thread' (http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=543374&page=75) I bought a couple of sets of those stick-on under-grip wrap-around heaters- these ones to be precise, but at the time they were on sale for $20 http://ww...

Re: Aftermarket steering dampers
Hi Duane, I've done a fair bit of research into the newer ones, but haven't used mine yet (aside from garage testing :D), and have no experience of the older ones, so I don't have a lot to add other than theory. Suffice to say, the old hydraulic as you describe and the newer (such as the Scotts I ha...

Re: Aftermarket steering dampers
no probs, Do you have clip ons or something? What top clamp do you have? that might make it pretty easy then, you could make or adapt a mount for the damper and just attach it in the right position on your top triple. Depending on how you have mounted it and how high, get a flat or a stepped arm, an...

Re: Aftermarket steering dampers
To compliment my new front end, I've got a Scotts/Ohlins damper/stabilizer set up for my G/S build. I can't say how it actually works yet because I haven't used it yet! It is fully adjustable for slow and high speed circuits (of damping). Stagehand on adv races a 100GS with one and loves it. Offroad...

Re: Cheap Bosch headlight
Hey guys,
I'm glad it worked out well for everyone. Aside from fitting mine in a spare headlight bucket to check for fitment, I haven't actually used mine yet, so it is good to hear that they actually work well.
Only 7 left on ebay listing now![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
