That little screw that seals the vacuum port on my Bings
Hi everyone, I have 8 Bing carbs in my garage, including the two on the R100GS. Not one of them has the screw anymore. I've use various rubber do-dads to seal it, but they regularly fail. It seems that it is an odd size. Anyone know what size it is, and if they might be available? I guess I could co...

Hi, '92 GS. The little rubber doohicky that covers the odometer reset button finally came off. Any suggestions for a solution? Glue a tiny condom over it ??
Thanks,

Re: Walnut shell or soda blasting a wheel
Very cool, thanks. I've seen that before, but forgot. I actually have a blasting gun, I think from Harbor Freight. Just a trigger gun, a couple of different diameter nozzles, and a big siphon hose. My prob is too small a compressor. The other big question for me is- Soda or walnut shells, or ??? You...

Walnut shell or soda blasting a wheel
Hi again, Working on cleaning up these spare wheels for my GS. I'm thinking of media blasting them. They're too big to fit in my friend's glass bead blasting cabinet. So, I wonder about using either soda or walnut shells, blast outside and then just hose the mess off the driveway. Anyone have sugges...

Re: How the heck do you remove the bearing from a R100R whee
I get heating and cooling to get the bearing in. What I wonder is, is there a trick for REMOVING IT? I'll heat the hub, but do I need to buy or borrow a blind hole bearing remover?

Lowering the footpegs on a R100GS
Howdy all, just got back from a 1500 mile ride on the GS. All was great- newly rebuilt tranny was flawless, engine ran great, not a drop of oil leaked or burned, and my "custom" seat (cut up the foam myself and covered with sheepskin) kept my ass comfortable and cool. Whoopee! Airhead Cent...

Re: 82 5 Speed Trans post Mortem
Two things- I used a press (by myself) for the first time recently. Pressed off, and then back on, gear sets and bearings on 3 transmissions. Had seen others do it in the past. It was absolutely no problem. Go slow, make 3x sure everything is lined up, and think before hand how far things are going ...

Well, mine was easier (and dumber) than that. It was just not tight. I just touched it, the cable turned a tad, and bike started right up. duhhhhh

Re: Fuel line Solenoid Control?
Chasesa- Welcome! I don't remember the exact details, by my '92 R100GS had what I think is the same system (and the R100M or R, and R100GS share the same tank, etc.) I completely removed mine it works fine. Besides the vacuum and fuel plumbling, there is one electrical connection in the harness that...
