Valeo Starter Ring Gear

The Valeo starter on my bike shredded the fixed planetary ring gear so I bought a new fixed gear and it's shredded that one too without the engine starting! - Any ideas why?

Re: Mono Final Drive bearings

No it's not the 120mm (170mm?) bearing on the crown wheel but the 60x25ish mm on the pinion shaft in the nose of the diff casing where the swinging arm bolts up to. If it's knackered then getting it off won't be a problem (getting the cash out of my pocket for a new one will be!) But I thought that ...

Mono Final Drive bearings

I have a Mono final drive apart, whilst washing the crown wheel I lifted it by the Taper Roller Bearing and the cage came off scattering the rollers everywhere! I've tried but I just can't put the cage back on I came off easy enough - how does it go back together? Now the very expensive Double Row A...

3 spoke wheels

2560_3000.jpg Look - it's been done - Mono frame, swinging arm and diff and a 3 spoke wheel but I have all of this and the wheel is sat too far over to the left. Looking at his blog http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&sl=ja&tl=en&u=http://www.ritmo-sereno.com/46blog...

Re: Rear brake pedals

Thanks for the pictures - I gather the wigley one with the larger bore is the '79 one.

Rear brake pedals

I'm putting together another R100 and I want to use a rear disc brake and am looking for a brake pedal to suit. I see that BMW changed part numbers in 1980 - does anyone know what changes they made to the part? - it looks the same!

Re: Blowing Coils

I thought the trouble with ensuring that each twin output coil feeds both cylinders on a twin plugged engine is that you never know if a coil should fail. But why would there be no sparks if just one of coil fails? Now I can understand that if one coil fails then the other may well be under some str...

Re: Blowing Coils

I originally used the standard 1983 electronic ignition (BMW 12.14-1 244 478) with two PVL 356 1 00 coils (the ones that Motobins sell) Well back in June I got stranded -no sparks. As I thought if one coil had failed at least the other would fire I replaced the ignition unit with a Power Train 8100 ...

Re: Blowing Coils

Failure mode - a brown sticky stuff blew back over the engine cases - how to test them for each winding? - tell me how.
How do you balance the resistance of the plug leads other than make both cylinders have the same sum lengths?
