Re: Gearbox Ribs

It would seem that the ribs reinforce the case laterally as well as longitudinally. If shaft end play was noticed as a problem I wonder why they didn't reinforce the rear cover? Adding some ribs there would have increased the section modulus of the cover and make it more resistant to bending. Easy f...

Re: dang brand new oil pressure switch leaking

Are you sure you have the right switch? I believe the early switches had tapered threads and the later ones had straight threads...orz it the other way round? In either case the switch threads may not match your case threading.

I haven't had to go into mine yet but I saved this link.
There's another embedded link to pictures. The last picture shows the layout order of parts. Maybe you can compare how you put yours back together against that pic.

Re: Who's replaced brushes on Bosch starter?

After getting advice from several Moto Guzzi and airhead people that have actually replaced the brushes using solderand having the starter still operate reliably, I'll just solder the new brushes in. Here was my area of concern. It was soldering the field coil connections. Look at picture # 27 here....

Re: Who's replaced brushes on Bosch starter?

Will be easy to prevent wicking solder. Just tin both parts and position solder parts to work with gravity then use hemostats or needle nose pliers to be a heat sink on the braid near teh connection point. My problem is solder, silver solder, crimp, or crimp and solder. If solder what blend Bb/Sn Th...
