Oil Pressure Switch - Long term Solution?
Just curious if anyone has a long term solution to the oil pressure switch leaking problem. This is the 3rd switch I'll need to replace in 10 years. To be specific, we are not talking about the gasket/threaded portion leaking - I'm talking about the switch itself. BTW - Silicone goop doesn't qualify...

Seems plausible since deep groove ball bearings have a limited lateral load rating versus the radial load they're designed to take at a given speed. The bearings would work but their life w...

Re: 5 speed shims
Fig You say you are using a caliper with the depth attachment. I would put the caliper depth attachment against the flat plate and push the slide down to make sure you still read zero and not a positive number. Push back up and make sure you don't get a negative number. I've seen those attachments g...

Re: 5 speed shims
To eliminate the possibility of not having the bearings not fully seated on the clutch side couldn't you just re-heat the bearing areas and tap again? Bolting the plate to the cover is only good if the bearing pocket bosses actually sit at or below the plane of the cover edges. But if that really is...

Re: A Leak or Not?
Not as involved as a seal replacement on a Tonti framed Guzzi. No "frame crabbing" needed.

Re: A Leak or Not?
in addition to the comments by Kurt and Montmil, if its engine oil another possible leak source could be the gasket from the breather housing by the starter. That was the source of a leak I found on my '82 but I'm not familiar with the details of a slash 5 so take that into account. In my case I jum...
