Re: Take airhead to Europe?

Prepping the bike for a cold ride down to LA on Monday or early Tuesday morning. Washed to get a visible inspection of things. Oil and filter was changed 300 miles ago. Added New tires a week and a half ago. Have a new pair of fork socks to put on and still tweaking the panniers a bit. Will adjust t...

Re: Take airhead to Europe?

Its a go. Check is sent to pay for the shipping from Los Angeles! I will be riding it down on Presidents day from the San Francisco Bay Area. The bike is being readied. I will do a valve adjustment and change the fluids one more time. I decided to go with the hepco bags. The Krauser's latches are su...

Re: Take airhead to Europe?

I am working to go minimalist. Choosing the right bags... I have some beat up Hepcos or I could go with a old rack and nice Krausers.

Hepcos have better latches. I have the keys for locks on the Krausers. Both would take the strap.

Re: Take airhead to Europe?

Come to Aus, we've got Stelvio passes everywhere, without the straight bits. Oh man - would I love that. It's not the price of shipping that gets ya in in Australia but the level of quarantine cleaning to be done. 1800 for shipping and fees, having a special crate built (not included) plu...

Re: Take airhead to Europe?

Well you're still young and have some time to ride. It would be nice to move to Europe. After touring NZ I did some research on living there, but they don't make it easy. Maybe we can meet in Europe and go for a ride! I hope we do. I tend to ride slower and take photos. I love a good meal at both s...

Re: Take airhead to Europe?

Saint Matthew of Parkhouse has been writing about prepping a couple R60/5s for he and his wife to ship to Europe for a long tour there. I'd do it myself if I had (as ridercam does) another bike at home and easy storage over there and the opportunity to visit the bike at least every year. I'm done w...

Re: Take airhead to Europe?

I hear what you all are saying and appreciate your input. I turn 55 this year. When I turned 50 I went on a 5k mile solo ride which lingers in the back of my mind as a epic holiday day to clean my soul and grant me the precious time to figure my priorities. I get the chance to do some amazing things...

Re: Take airhead to Europe?

I would find a friend with a large garage near you for the CS until it gets shipped. Or a cheap storage unit. So you would send the bike and do the ride on it? I hate to waffle a bit. This choice is a big one for me. There is much sentimentality in all of this. I do feel a bit selfish as I don’t no...

Take airhead to Europe?

I am hoping to go on solo and joined adventures in civilized Europe. I have done my research and can send my bike there for less than a single weeks rental of a g650 or the like. The r100cs I own has always been my dream bike and now with 50k on the clock, new brakes, tires and fluids she is ready f...
