Re: Top End Help
So you guys are saying to turn the crankshaft nut to turn the flywheel, correct? I have read you can do either do that method or put your bike in the highest gear, elevate the rear wheel and turn in normal travel direction - both accomplish the same thing: the valves open and close, the pistons go i...

Re: Top End Help
George - I have my bike in 4th gear and rotating the rear wheel rotates the flywheel. I was under the impression this accomplishes finding TDC through the sight hole as the rear wheel is slowly spinned. On the cylinder successfully installed, I hear air coming up through the spark hole plug. Rockers...

Re: Top End Help
I get what you're saying. I went very slow to make sure. I thought the same too, so I did it several times checking each time. That's why I am puzzled. I just have the feeling it something I am overlooking in error and not a mechanical issue.

Re: Top End Help
The pushrods seem to settle in properly. They hang out approx. one inch from their holes on each side. So if I put on the left side without verifying if it was on the compression stroke, it could mess up the right side, knocking off my proper clearances/adjustments? If so, I probably did something s...

Top End Help
Ok Guys I am losing my mind putting my 71 75/5 back together. I have read over Oak's manual and other helpful suggestions on forums and internet. I just got my cylinders back - they recut valve seats, replaced valve guides & new rings. Everything else just needed a good cleaning. Installed the l...

Re: Newbie with electrical headache
Hey newbie, I am pretty new to this forum myself. I had some electrical problems with my /5. I would do as suggested - disconnect everything and reconnect with the diagrams available. Since mine had brittle wires, I just took everyone's advice and installed a brand new harness. It took some time, bu...

Re: / 5 Tire Pressure
Makes total sense. It totally felt out of sorts. Didn't think about the tubed vs tubeless thing since it was printed (as you can tell, this is my first older bike). Will try with the higher pressure of 32/34. Thanks...
