Re: Fuel Starvation

Cool. Thanks for letting me know that.

BTW, nice to hear about another guzzi fan. Through the years I have had a Bassa, Jackal, & 850T. I really miss the 850T. I restored it and never should have sold it.

Re: Fuel Starvation

Ok, I backwards flushed as Steve mentioned - a no go. I replaced the fuel lines without filters and success! I couldn't imagine this being the culprit since gas flowed so well out of the line with the filters on. Everyone's suggestions were definitely helpful and got me through the troubleshooting. ...

Re: Fuel Starvation

Gibson - I agree - never had problems with mikunis - pretty reliable. These are brand new that I bought from Rocky Point. Bill, who is very knowledgeable on these, had me set up the float arms parallel to the mating surface while holding upside down. I also have reinspected the parts, including the ...

Re: Fuel Starvation

Hey Rob. Thanks for the response. Yeah, no whooshing of air or an effect on the engine running. I didn't get a chance to remove the inline fuel filters - it rained this weekend and I didn't feel like pushing my bike in the rain if that didn't cure it.

Re: Fuel Starvation

Thanks Steve - I did replace the petcocks (which included the tall "straws " to suck gas as well as the tall screens that they slide in to). Tomorrow I am going to remove the small, inline external fuel filters and see what happens. If not go, I am going to relook at the petcocks and tank ...

Re: Fuel Starvation

Agreed since gravity fed, so this is a mystery to me. It seems that before startup, whether engine is cold or warm, the fuel flows down the line and fills the carb bowl. Engine starts and idles fine. Regardless it runs out of fuel in the bowls. Here is another experiment that I did (I had 3 large fa...

Re: Fuel Starvation

Will try this next step. I don't know what else left to do. I guess I skipped over that because the fuel flows right through them. How long do these type of filters last? I only had them on a couple months. It's so weird that it just happened out of the blue...

Fuel Starvation

Hey gents - another problem just started on me, leaving me very frustrated. It appears that there is some sort of venting situation going on with my 71 /5. It just happened out of the blue one day and I can't remedy it. The bike runs perfectly and I rode much of the summer. New Mikuni VM32 carbs and...

Re: No Valve Lash

Good morning Gents! Ok, this is really stupid, just like a said it will most likely be because I followed all installation procedures and troubleshooting suggestions from you guys. But I will swallow my pride and tell you what asinine thing I did: When I took offer the rockers for inspection, I forg...

Re: No Valve Lash

I am not sure I am totally being understood. I do know how to do a valve adjustment and a top end removal and install. And I know how to find OT. That is why I am scratching my head and keep thinking what the heck is the deal... :? I just wasn't paying attention to the valves opening and closing as ...
