Re: R90/6 with R100 Jugs and Pistons?

Another question... will the R90 Rockers and push rods work with the R100 top end?
I might as well use the R100 Rockers but are the push rods the same length?
If so, then they shouldn't make a difference... right?

Re: R90/6 with R100 Jugs and Pistons?

I found a really cheap set of R100 heads. I'll need to inspect them... but hopefully valves are OK and I'll be good to go. Has anybody ever ported heads on BMW's for better airflow? I'm just curious... because I learned to do it on a 2stroke engine and wondering if it's a benefit to airhead heads as...

Re: R90/6 with R100 Jugs and Pistons?

My wallet says run the R90 heads... as I don't have R100 Heads... But I agree. Just as long as the R90 Bottom end, crank, rods, can handle the R100 top end.

Re: R90/6 with R100 Jugs and Pistons?

I have no idea how to know for sure...
If it is a circumference thing of matching the head to the piston, i can probably see it, but if its the domed valve area, I'm not sure how I can figure that out.
would R100 heads be safer/better?

R90/6 with R100 Jugs and Pistons?

I have a R90/6 block and bottom end. I have the heads too. It is a large spigot block. I also have some R100/7 Pistons and Cylinders and the cylinders fit nicely into the block. I'm hoping to make a hot rod, fast bike out of this R90. Any concerns or issues I should be aware of before I use those R1...

Re: R100S occasional sputter and idle issues. Coil?

Weak battery. It's a brand new Odyssey! And this happened with the previous battery, which was fine, i ended up switching it to another bike for design/space reasons (it was an alien motion battery). However, while riding, my cockpit volt meter sometimes is at 12v no matter what lights I have on, a...

Re: R100S occasional sputter and idle issues. Coil?

one cylinder was firing on the bike. I moved the spark plug cable to the non firing side, and everything worked. I tried different plug cables, and that wasn't it. I replaced the coils and Bingo! both sides fired. I ran the bike about 2 miles and put it away. The next day, same issue. Left side stop...

Re: R100S occasional sputter and idle issues. Coil?

My problem is back but much worse. The left side is not firing at all now. I had the issue at work, and in high RPM, both sides will fire, low RPM, the left side will not fire. I'm wondering if it is the box for the dyna ignition finally dying on me after 40k miles on it? Or??? any other ideas? It i...

Re: R100S occasional sputter and idle issues. Coil?

The problem has re-surfaced, gone away, and resurfaced many times now. I cleaned, blown out, and tuned carbs a few times now thinking it was a carb issue. I checked valves a few times in there too. After getting my carbs synced perfectly this last round, and still experiencing a fart/hesitation at l...

Re: When a Valve Cover stud Time Sert fails?

My dealer did the first thread repair on my R65 around the 2nd year. I probably thought tightening it would solve an oil leak. Hello Rob, I feel that I am in the same boat. I have a peculiar oil leak on one side. I thought it was because that stud became loose. What was the cause and solution to yo...
