Is your topcase overloaded?

I made the "s" bars work by using "bar-backs"and by shimming the fork stop with a slightly longer bolt and a washer on each side. You will lose some low speed turning radius but but it is very livable.

I posed this question to Oak 30 years or so ago and he was of the same opinion as you ZM. Best to stay with BWM recommended fluid (dot 3/4). Too important a component to take a chance with.

The fiche shows different part numbers for left & right. They should be the same length so one might suspect a bent main fairing mount or some other sort of misalignment. I am assuming you don't have the two lower fairing brackets reversed.

The Brown side stand is aces in my book. I've had the same one for 30 years with nary a problem.

My 2001 GS is at 123,000 with no problems. I bought it new & use a high quality synthetic gear oil that I change at 10,000.

A quick and dirty way to thread fuel line thru the air filter chamber is to use a long, skinny screwdriver to guide the hose thru. ( A straight, stiff piece of wire will also suffice.)

Guard dog moly. Pricy but good.

If you can find some tires with a smaller aspect ratio, you can lower bike another quarter inch or so.
