Re: Correct Speedo and Final Drive but Speedo is off

Aren't they notoriously optimistic, anyway? I mean, isn't that part of the design intent?

Re: Speaking of Jeff Dean...

There are some pics of wood/canvas canoes and one birch bark canoe. They are not very interesting shots but the canoes are always fun for me to look at.

Re: Front Brake needs some hand muscle - ATE single disk

The same thing happens with bicycle brakes. The brake lever is the "master cylinder" and the brake is like the caliper. I refer to rim brakes here. If the brake lever pulls too much cable you will have a very firm but essentially ineffective brake. If the lever pulls too little cable in relation to ...

Re: Where is Duane?

Duane, I have driven up to Oregon a little more lately. Been watching for you but haven't seen you on the road. :)

Where do you live these days? I am under the impression you have left Galt.

Re: R100/7 Vapours in Garage Doing my Head In

I have found the fuel line from the BMW dealer to be great. The cloth covered fuel line has not done well for me in recent years. I really do like the look of the cloth covered line but I am led to believe that it is the ethanol in the fuel that makes it go bad quickly. The hose that runs across the...

Re: Sticking Brakes

I use a bicycle toe strap to hold pressure on the brake lever. It has worked for me. I'm not even going to try to figure out why it works. If Ken in Oklahoma is still only guessing, I will probably never know.............but it has worked for me, as well.

Re: Getting My '83 R100RT Up On Center Stand Difficult

I have no trouble with the center stands nowadays. The information given by SteveD as to how to use the stands is golden. The side stands on my eighties bikes are abysmal. I have to lean the bike far to the right to get the stands to pass vertical and work. On no other bike brand that I have ridden,...

Re: snow drop wheels

I have had a couple snowflake pairs powder coated. One silver and the other gold. When you clean a powdercoated wheel, the stuff washes off instead of working into the pores of the metal. That is my experience.

Re: Interesting increase in value

In my estimation, that is not a cafe racer. It has stock handlebars and peg position. Cafe racers have clip-ons and rearsets. Sorry. I don't make the rules. I agree with Texer that the turn signal stalks sticking out like they do is super indicative of a hurried or speculation build. But, it says "O...
