Re: Identification

ZM, please tell Claude I still am grateful he took the time to help me iron out the LED turn signal issue on my Cafe Racer. Wish him a happy holiday season from me, please. richard t, that's about what I heard. He did have a very bad crash about the time he dropped away from Boxerworks as I recall. ...

Re: Identification

For the record, I thought funholiday was a (sometimes) valuable member here. Every time I would "defend" him, he would do something that was way out of line...........I mean, he would be a real jerk to someone. It would be very interesting to have met him. One person who funholiday attacked (totally...

Re: Identification

ZM, I likes me my fork boots (gaitors) and endeavor to put some on my RS. But the fairing of an RS/RT has openings for the fork that have their own rubber boots. Gaitors and those RS/RT boots don't mix well. That's the reason most folks don't run them on those bikes. A friend had some skinnier ribbe...

There is a person who posts on the mechanical discussions here and calls himself "wobbly". Is that funholiday?

Re: Wheel building.

Ken, the Buchanan's spoke wrenches are the bomb! They have it down! When you buy spokes from them is the time to buy the wrench.

Re: Wheel building.

tsa, with airhead wheels, at least the ones I've done, the straight pull spokes more or less guide themselves to the rim. After starting all the spokes, spin them up to where they are even. I start with "hiding the threads" and then, if there is enough slack left, I'll spin them all up to where ther...

Re: LED headlight replacement for H4

ZM's opening post mentions a "voyage regulator". I don't have that feature so all my voyages have been unregulated.....some more than others! And, speaking of language usage, in a discussion about alternator capabilities, The Veg mentions his "current" bike. And, early in the conversation hal notes ...

Re: Wheel building.

If I may contribute a little bit, I work on the roundness of a wheel from the very beginning of the truing process. Each spoke has an independent effect on a wheel. That may not be so true if the wheel has a flat spot. A flat spot can leave a spoke with no tension at all. Adding tension (tightening)...

Aren't they notoriously optimistic, anyway? I mean, isn't that part of the design intent?

Re: Speaking of Jeff Dean...

There are some pics of wood/canvas canoes and one birch bark canoe. They are not very interesting shots but the canoes are always fun for me to look at.
