Re: Battery for R100RT

Deka etx16l. Cheaper than the orange one, fits nicely. I just changed my last one out @ 7-8 years. Just because...it was still working. Time for another one. 8.5 years this one lasted. :!: I replaced it with a 400CCA Deka. A tad taller, certainly larger but still able to slide in from the r...

Re: Front brake master cylinder.

I recognise the gunge in the end too. I wonder if that indicates a slight leakage past the seals. Whatever, everything seems in good condition once cleaned up so it's going back as it is. I was wondering the same thing. Replacing the seal would be simple enough. However it only seems available with...

Front brake master cylinder.

My R100RS is an 11/1981 build. Handlebar mounted master cylinder, 13mm, changed from 15mm many years ago with a great improvement to feel. The lever travel had diminished recently, but still ok, so I removed the master cylinder to investigate. The master cylinder looked good, and I ensured the hole...

Re: Testing the charging system.

Thanks @SteveD, helped me find a poor ground from the D- brush due to the cable being soldered too short and holding the brush off the rotor. Posts like this save a lot of time and money on troubleshooting and help us getting our bikes back on the road where they should be. Thanks a lot for taking ...

Re: Today in the shed you did...

Finally finished reassembling the RS (rear end yesterday) and it's ready to test ride.
The shed got a minor tidy up as stuff got put away! Still too messy though.

Re: Brembo caliper rebuild

A clean and a couple of coats of caliper paint and they'll harden for a week or so until I fiddle further. https://photos.smugmug.com/Brembo-F08-rebuild/BMW-brakes/i-TvSnkLL/0/DNL36PL7pvW96XktN58r2j8wZThhxSwx2M2zXd6J9/XL/2024042621044193-9148985334153116451-XL.jpg What's so different about caliper ...

Re: Brembo caliper rebuild

+1 what Steved said. FWIW - my pistons were OK, but there was sludge in the caliper. Use only brake fluid to clean inside (some alcohol is alright but no mineral spirits, gas, etc.). I reinstalled my trans last week then stopped to replace the rear brake hose. I noticed the piston seal had herniate...

Re: Spark plug caps

OEM is a cap and lead integrated package isn't it. Maybe the failure was "subclinical", loong and slow and the previous carb tune accommodated that? Maybe re tune the carbs and see how it is.
