Re: Toast starter armature 1978 R100/7

Update. I have not had too much time to inspect wiring but I did come closer. The starter relay and start switch all function properly. What I discovered is somehow headlight power is feeding the start relay black wire, which is the culprit that killed the starter. This particular bike has the funct...

Re: Toast starter armature 1978 R100/7

I am not certain if the starter was in fact running when bike was running, I was not the one operating it so I cannot confirm, but with a constant 12 volt supply one would specualte that is how it was burned open. I secured another relay and yup still 12 volts constant on the little black solenoid w...

Toast starter armature 1978 R100/7

I'm helping a friend with his 78 R100/7. His starter was not turning over so he replaced his starter relay with one from EME. Bike starter still didn't turn over. Starter relay "clicks" when start button is depressed. Suspected a bad solenoid but found it to be a bad armature. Ok. But why?...

Re: Clutch Difficulty!

Glad it was simple I agree. Everyone had good ideas which I really appreciate. Stupid if me to have parts get mixed up. I am by no means an expert in any particular area so I like suggestions. Thanks for the answer Duane on the /5 spacers.

Re: R90GSS

It's not a ride-off stand! Just looks that way. 1975 r75/6. Swingarm lengthened 3". XR650L front end. Rebuilt motor with R90S pistons. Trailttech vapor speedometer. German /5 police tank and seat. UFO fenders, baja design headlight. Custom wiring harness with junction box where battery used to ...

Re: Clutch Difficulty!

Here is how it is so confusing. I had somehow grabbed a k bike clutch pushrod. They are slightly longer than an airhead. Oops. Simple oversight. Yes I know the felt style pushrod goes in from the front. Which i did prior to the transmission being installed. I only pulled it out once from the rear af...

Clutch Difficulty!

I am finishing up a project of mine, a R90G/S. I am having a heck of a time getting the clutch arm installed onto the back of the transmission. This is a 1975 /6 transmission with a /6 block. It has all brand new clutch components, diaphragm, pressure plate, clutch and flywheel. The clutch rod is co...
