Re: Needle and needle jet

Thanks. So if I leave the carbs on, reinstall the stack from the bottom first, then install the needle/slide/diaphragm from the top ensuring the needle is well centered, I'll be right! Yes you will and in addition, by doing things that way with the diaghragm off, you can see that the top brass atom...

Re: garmisch-partenkirchen

I'm thinking of going to the BMW bash the first week of July at Garmisch-Partenkirchen,My question is would it be do-able on my R 65? ,the mileage is about 1160 miles one way, what kind of MPG can i expect, what kind of cruising speed can the bike handle. Here is your answer. If he can do this, your...

Re: Handlebar Master cylinder query

Thanks Guys . I now have a 14mm and 16mm master cylinder in my possession and assuming that the 14mm will present the better result will use that and sell the 16mm. As i have managed to pick the 14mm up for £16 i am not continuing to search for a 13mm and instead will concentrate on strengthening my...

Re: Handlebar Master cylinder query

Thanks Steve.

Does anyone know which airheads were fitted with the 16mm handlebar MC ?

The reason i ask is to get some understanding as to why BMW seemed to shuffle betwen 13mm and 16mm MC's on presumably similar bikes with similar calipers.

Handlebar Master cylinder query

Hi, i am gathering bits at the moment to change from my undertank master cylinder onto a handlebar mounted one on my 1980 R100RS. The bike currently has 40mm ATE calipers and braided hoses leading to them. I have been offered a 16mm master cylinder assembly VERY cheap and in great condition. This is...

Cannot argue with that then if you have actually tried them and found them beneficial. I'm wrong :o but still don't want a set

Re: Feeler Airhead 70-95 frame brace group buy

Excerpted from Tony Foale: "The main "weakness" of the BMW series /5 /6 /7 frames is in the area of the SA pivot mounting. Side loads on the rear wheel will tend to make the upright tubes holding said pivot move fore and aft. This can largely be prevented by mounting a bracing tube o...

Re: Feeler Airhead 70-95 frame brace group buy

Why do you think that you need them? Are you telling us that an old airhead can be ridden so hard that anyone other than a Moto GP star could possibly notice any discernable difference by fitting these? I am not against modifying old bikes if the mods are useful but you would benefit more by upgradi...
