Re: 79' Rs rear disc brake

Generally, any rear brake is going to be of limited use due to weight transfer. You say you have good pedal, but have you been successful bleeding the rear caliper? I understand that it has to be removed and rotated so the bleed nipple is at the high point. If you've done that, then stand by for mo'...

Re: Spline Lube on Paralever

From Snowbum's site:

15K to 20K:
Monolever & Paralever bikes should have the output shaft & splines, & any U-joints checked.

Does this cover the paralevers?

Re: Handelbars.

K75S or possible C bars seem to be the option. A bit more rise and still fits inside the fairing. Some have reported no change needed in cables while others say they have. You'd have to see for yourself.

The same pushrod, part 11321262907, appears to have been used for the entire run of Airheads.

Re: R90/6 with R100 Jugs and Pistons?

I would think that smoothing the intake so the flow turbulence is minimized should help with combustion. I don't know the effort involved but my guess is that the measurable effects would be fairly small. Couldn't hurt if you have time on your hands.

Re: '84 R100RT w/sidecar

They also never designed a post 1969 Airhead to haul a chair either. Service bulletin in May 1985 states that. Use of a sidecar or pulling a trailer will void the warranty.

Just sayin'...but people do what they do.

Re: 1975 R90/6 front brake switch replacement

Aren't you going to have to bleed the brakes after the switch change? Seems to me that a little penetrant, and it would be small, will be flushed out at that point. What about holding the master cylinder in place with the existing hose clamp...wouldn't that be enough of a hold to turn the switch off...

Re: '84 R100RT w/sidecar

Welcome! The '81-84 bikes, especially the 1000cc models, have a valve seat issue...the material used by BMW didn't transfer heat very well, leaving latent heat in the valve face causing them to distort. The only cure is to replace the seats...and likely the valves. Might get 60-80K out of the stock ...

Re: R90/6 with R100 Jugs and Pistons?

The specs seem to be pretty close for an R90/6 and R100/7. The /7 has a slightly higher stock compression ratio. At some point, /7 heads had bigger valves for better breathing...probably not the stock /7 but more the RS or S models. I'd be inclined to keep the 1000cc stuff together. Save the R90 hea...
