Re: BMW MOA International Rally 2018- Des Moines Iowa

Well, the Rally is now in the history books and my FIL has added a 3rd MOA Oldest Rider Award to his collection. He's already talking about next years event in Lebanon, TN. That's just east of Nashville if you are interested. Got to see lots of bikes and gear and I managed to snag a door prize, set ...

Re: BMW MOA International Rally 2018- Des Moines Iowa

I've had my tickets for a bit. Joined the MOA just to make the price reasonable. I will be there with my wife and her dad. Some of you have met my wife at Ken's in Oklahoma. Others met my FIL at the rally in Hamburg. He got the oldest rider award in Hamburg and in Billings. He'll probably be riding ...

Re: Helmet to helmet communications

There are a lot of really good units out there, especially if you want to integrate blue-tooth to your phone or GPS. Both Scala and Sena get high marks. However, they are a bit expensive. Frugal person that I am, I have a pair of Shark MBT intercoms. They're blue tooth and have a range of about 1000...

Re: PMS - The Silent Killer

As it is February and I have 7" of snow on the ground and ice on the streets, I assume it was the dreaded Parked Motorcycle Syndrome that affects many of us this time of year. the only handlebars I've been able to utilize lately are the ones on my snow blower. It's not the same.

Re: HF motorcycle lift

I have one. I used it on the /2 conversion. I did secure the bike to the lift with ratchet straps so I could move it around without it falling. Use the locks. Don't trust the jack to stay up, but you shouldn't with any hydraulic jack. It's a decent jack for the price.

Re: Staying warm ?

I use leather chaps over my jeans. Leather isn't warm, but it takes the wind out of the equation. Once you remove the wind, your quilt lined trousers should be fine. Of course it will clash with the BMW image. That would normally require Aerostitch riding gear.

Re: Hotel Budapest

I've heard it is an R12, but I have no idea what year. The scenes it is in are supposed to be from the 30's. Hope that helps.

Re: EVA - Ethylene vinyl acetate Armour Pads

When I took out the deer a year ago, I was wearing my mesh jacket with the soft armour. Other than a few bruises and a sprained ankle, I had no real injuries. The mesh jacket was shredded, but the armour cushioned the impact and wore away instead of my flesh. We could discuss the gouges in the modul...

Re: Is this hot, or what?

Your point about stairs and such is well taken. However, I can see how it could increase the mobility for those individuals that , while otherwise healthy, have issues with arthritis, severe asthma, and other conditions where walking for an extended length of time is not an option.
