Rob Frankham wrote: Sat Aug 13, 2022 6:16 am Do you know the 'accurate' way of determining TDC?..
I can get to about .001mm tdc with my dipstick.
It should have been mentioned in the manual. :ugeek:
For anyone who wants to get within .001mm of tdc.
I usually give my tank roundals a polish when working to those tolerances.

Re: Front wheel bearings

Origin seals? I can't remember if you said. You'll need to booger them to get the top hat and bearing out. The rubber ones can let the top hat out but it's not ideal. How do they feel an the axle? Remember these bearings are supposed to do umpteen billions of miles. You might be a billion ...

I used to be a trainee locomotive driver, have driven a steam train, and killed a 247 crank. :ugeek:

Pull the seal out and take it to a bearing supply. It's a generic size. That's what I've done in the past.

Re: Parts sourcing - Top-End Rebuild?

Maybe Airbear or ME109 know about this specialist? Unknown to me, and I'd say not known to Charlie either. When my oil filter bypass spring broke and eventually took out the rear crank journal, Nick Ploeg from NZ kindly sent a very nice s/hand crank to me. I've not heard of many successful crank re...

Re: Drive shaft Maintenance? '80 R100T

Hello all, the cush drive/shock absorber shafts like on my '81 can suffer a broken spring, although it's rare. The spring loaded coupling components can wear to the point of making less smooth throttle roll on. A step/abrupt angle change forms on the contact faces of the two parts. More of a clunk t...

I bet I've reused mine (short bolts) more than GSPD.
I even reused them three times in one day, but that's another story.

Re: Airbox delete —> new carb jets?

I notice the cafe crowd are now all on to the benefits of an oil cooler on a naked bike. It's a got to have item.
It wouldn't be too bad if they weren't all such a bunch of pretentious wankers. Lol.
The bike wouldn't even get to operating temp before being parked for the static display.

We might need to shorten the forward planning to like two bloody weeks! Try and get in between the frequent lock downs.
What happens when there's equal cases on both sides of the border? :geek:

About time someone posted in motorcycling on Boxerworks.
Do we know where we're going yet, Steve? Still Darlington Point? Doesn't really matter I spose.
Just the right time of year now for a pub with a big open fire.....
