Re: Did I install my rear main seal too deep??
The RMOS should be flush with the case...AND bone dry, with the flywheel flange perfectly clean and dry. One mm further in should be OK, but I doubt anybody's ever (intentionally) tried that. If you didn't block the crank, be sure you can turn the flywheel before you put the tranny back in. You cou...

I'm not sure how we get to Cafe with knobbies: https://humboldt.craigslist.org/mcy/d/phillipsville-1994-harley-sportster/7374435470.html But I kinda like this one. Street tires, rearsets, and Clubman bars and it could be a lot of fun. belt has been upgraded to a chain My brain goes the opposite. Bu...

Re: Battery Post Melted - Trying to Start R100T
Don't forget dielectric grease (Vaseline is good) for any and all electrical connections. I liked "the mod". In 35 years, I never replaced or serviced my starter motor, but I did go through a lot of batteries in the early days. The only additional tip I have is to check your positive wire ...

Re: New Specialty Tools for the New Owner
gspd has the tool roll (and many of the tools) from the supplementary tool kit.
The roll itself is much larger than the stock.

Re: New Specialty Tools for the New Owner
oooh, those look really nice, too! Wonder if we can find something similar somewhere? You DO realize that the other tools are part of the stock tool roll? A coveted item. Still available new and used. Be careful of bid wars. They will happily out-bid new prices. Here is my original tool kit, ...

Re: New Specialty Tools for the New Owner
This was a beautiful spanner that I once owned. I'm afraid I let it go with my tool roll when I parted out. It was great for the rear wheel nut on the twin-shocks. It used to be part of the Supplementary Tool Kit. 71 11 1 237 848 Now, it seems, BMW has removed them from the catalog. I can't even fin...

Re: Tranny oil leaking through transmission vent screw
So if the speedometer cable a that attaches to the rear of the trans has not been sealed, water can get into the trans. Does the trans oil look milky? Good reminder! 1) Make sure your speedo boot is not dry and cracked. You can buy replacements. 2) Fill that boot with grease to keep any water that ...

Re: Cafe Racers on YouTube
What is a cafe bike? My definition (a Yank...) Is roughly a modified version of whatever you have in the shed. Dropped bars, maybe rearsets. I don't think the short distances involved in the U.K. required fairings that later showed up in Mad Max and the like. The first time I spotted a RS in a Pink ...
