But ignore the first reponse- do NOT use WD40 in a lock. It may help short-term but as it is mildly corrosive and can leave residues, it's not good long-term.

Worth a shot. Avoid tight bends for sure; route it for the gentlest bends possible. The metal winding in the sleeve should be able to withstand the pressure of any cable-tie, but I'd still avoid making them needlessly tight.
