Re: Balancing act

I too have been figuring out how to position the tire on the rim so that they are in better balance with each other. When I do auto tires I position the tire/rim relation on the balancer till I get the bubble to almost center before I inflate and add weights. Doing so on a wire airhead wheel with a ...

Re: Turn Signal Troubleshooting

If your bike has the aluminum turn signal housing, the bulb gets the ground via the housing and the screws, I have had issues with a bad ground on the housing causing the signal not to work.

Re: Oil Soaked Brake Shoes

I would try to find the same gear ratio. Currently you have 3.0 ratio, the 32/10 would give you a 3.2 ratio. That would improve acceleration, but reduce top end and milage. Maybe having your unit rebuilt is also an option.

Re: Idiot v. Motorbikes, Rounds 3, 4, and 5

Mel, I have had good results with a DIY soda blaster, used a air nozzle with a long tube at end from Harbor Freight and a big container of baking soda from Smart and Final, cleaned all the grime off the cases and frame nicely. Do it outside and wear a mask for the dust. Here is the link to the artic...

Re: Purchasing a broken R1150R... Questions?

Well the parts are available from BMW. It looks like a replacement key cylinder is available for about $37.00, If the owner still has the key you would have to arrange the tumblers to match. If the housing is toast, it is an additional $156.00. The hardest part is getting to the screws holding the h...

Re: Battery issue?

When you look for a meter, look for a DC mill amp scale on it too. Since you mentioned the previous owner had the same issues prior to replacement of the battery, sounds like your issue may be a parasitic drain.

Re: accessory connection on R850R

You may have to pull the tank off to see if there are wires that were not hooked up for items like heated grips. When I was installing running lights on my R1100RS there were bundles of wires that were part of the loom but not used, found a nice heavy switched wired for the power I needed.

Re: Rebuildable driveshaft

Here is another option that is available. It doesn't have the flexibility of easily removable bearing with the circlip, but it looks to be cheaper.

Re: Fuel Starvation

I don't know for sure, but the only difference is that the motor is running when it runs out of fuel and stops flowing and it isn't when it flows correctly. So any other theories?
