Me too, when using the stock oem switch (which rarely leaks), just use the crush washer for sealing.

Re: Big Brakes on Airheads
I guess I'm one of the old school guys who doesn't see any issue with the older ATE setup. At least on my '74 R90s, if properly adjusted, provide plenty of stopping power. I still have the stock rotors but added stainless steel braided linesand EBC pads years ago. (the Ferodo's never did work for me...

Re: Sticking Brakes
I have everything installed and I'm bleeding the brakes. All is good, all bubbles gone, but I notice the lever has a lot of travel before engagement. The master cylinder piston is adjusted per the 'gapping forked tool' in the stock toolkit. This bike does not have a cable adjuster on the hand lever ...

Re: Sticking Brakes
I got the calipers cleaned up and have installed the inner seals.
Are there any tricks to take note of when installing the outer dust seals?
I'm assuming that I place the piston in the bore, press it in a bit and then install the dust seal?
thanks,
jimmyg

Re: Sticking Brakes
the right side caliper has one small pit in the caliper piston but that isn't limiting removal. However, removing the left caliper revealed the issue. The piston is stuck, hard, in the caliper. I have penetrating oil on it now, hoping to free it up in a day or so. I'll keep y'all updated. thanks, ji...

Re: Sticking Brakes
I went through this a couple of years ago - in my case the chrome of the ATE caliper pistons was badly pitted in the area where the seal is supposes to, eh, seal. Replacement pistons were necessary, and of course meticulous cleaning and greasing of the caliper seals when reassembling. In hindsight,...

Re: Sticking Brakes
Have you had the necessity to adjust the cable at the M/C end, there is an adjustment gap that has to be maintained in order to insure the return hole does not get covered. Replacing the original lines with a set from Spieglers would be a good idea, if not already done. A partially blocked return h...

Re: Sticking Brakes
How old are the brake lines? Original rubber lines can break down internally and balloon when being pressurized but not release the pressure to the caliper. Also, what brings the piston back after actuation is the square o-ring inside the caliper. It could be cut or binding, not pulling the piston ...

Sticking Brakes
I have an R90s that appears to not release the front brakes after application. I pull the lever and release but the front wheel is very hard to spin. I've checked the caliper adjustments, etc.
The wheel will spin but it is very hard to do so after applying the brakes
thanks,
jimmyg
