Re: did somebody ruin these carbs?

I have successfully pried out drive screws. The tool you need is a pair of flush cut dykes or cutters. Flush cuts have the cutting edge flush with on side of the jaws so there is no bevel to the cutting edge, used in electronics repair. You could then squeeze around the head of the nail where it mee...

Screen for petcock

When I got a my replacement petcock I was doing some checking and saw that the screen for the pick up tube was NLA by BMW. Well I had some screens that I bought for another project that I never used, the snout fit perfectly in the pick up tube of the petcock, thought I would share. http://www.mikes-...

Re: C stand & Brake light help

In the ohms scale you should see a very low reading when the switch is activated. To check with ignition on just short the two pins together, light should light up. If it works when shorted and not when activated with lever you have a bad switch.

Re: Newbie Here! 86 R80N Getting Naked in progress..

I did some checking and the wedge 32721232929, is NO LONGER AVAILABLE. So I am not sure what type of fix around is available. When I changed the bars on my R90/6 I didn't see them in the housing either. The controls did clamp up pretty tight, so they did not flop about, but could be be rotated if so...

Re: R model fuses

Well, everything I planned to change wasn't. Ended up going to my local off road VW parts supplier and walked away with 5 8amp fuses for $2.10. Then went to the local electronics supplier and got some large push on females in case I decided to use the new style GM fuse pigtail, also got a 7 amp circ...

Re: knotchy head bearing

Yes, the pullers are an absolute necessity. I just did them on my 74 R90/6, even then I had to do some modifications to the puller to get the bottom race out. Got the puller set from Cycle Works, did give him some feedback and he is looking at increasing the diameter of the disk that hooks the race....

Here is a site that shows flexible nozzles to fit oil bottle and flat sided funnels. Lots of interesting items.

Re: what master cylinder piston size for 40mm ATEs?

Another great thread. I too have used the method of tying the lever overnight and it has made a big difference in the bleeding of the brakes, nice and solid the next morning. I am going to include a link to the brake ratio/mc site again as this has some very interesting information and things to con...

Re: R model fuses

Great advise Jean, thanks. I did buy a pig tail with a nice new GM style mini fuse that is readily available. So I may end up with that as the replacement. Did check for the VW style fuse, but they were not on the shelf at all. Kind of surprising as there are a lot of VWs in Nevada. If I remember co...
