will start, won't start, will start....repeat

I'm chasing an intermittent on my bike. Sometimes my bike won't start. I get all the lights, horn works, battery is good, I get a nice neutral light, but press the starter button and nothing. No dip in the voltage, no starter. Just the silence of space. I have tested kill switch and starter switches...

Re: Used parts prices going through the roof!

this puzzles me too. There are old Triumph parts that don't go for the prices that we have. Same for old Harley parts, Suzuki parts, etc... One local guy offered to sell me a used 90s seat pan...no foam or hinges, for $90. Another local guy sold me a used, poor condition seat, with pan and 90s cowli...

Re: Option D?

So my options seem to be A: pay through the nose to replace it. B: look for a used one and sit on my thumbs until one comes up. C: cut out the ON/OFF switch and it's innards and wire up a different switch. Or you could use the ignition key to shut off your engine while waiting for a reasonably pric...

one of those days

so my bike wouldn't start today. Same thing I had two weeks ago. Press the starter and nothing. So in testing the neutral switch, starter relay, etc. I pulled apart the ON/OFF, Starter, turn signal switch array. So I figured I could remove the circlip on the OFF/ON/OFF switch and pop off the level. ...

Re: sealing up a leaky cylinder head

I shouldn't have said a weep, it was downright crying. There was a small oil puddle at the top of the head where the oil was coming out; nearly bubbling out when riding. I put it all back together without sealer and with the o-ring. If it leaks too bad, I'll redo it. If my valves were properly adjus...

Re: Dancing mechanical tach

mine does it on occasion too on my '77. It will only do it at high speeds in and will jump from 2.5k to 5k when I'm really turning about 4k. Most of the time it works fine however. It is moody.

Re: sealing up a leaky cylinder head

yes, I meant bases.

I may try the permatex...but later. Today I'm just going to try the original o-ring...minus the sealant.
