Re: New Ikons at a Too-Good Price?

I paid $671.5 delivered from Albury to Hamilton (Aus)inc GST for 7610 shocks with adjustable damping and preload without covers.
Superb shocks, transformed handling of 71 R75/5.

Re: Battery for R75/5

Wide black tape hides ugly yellow.
And yes there is a cranking comparison on web somewhere, I haven't seen it but a friend of mine has.
They are marginally heavier than most others.

Re: Battery for R75/5

I find Motobatt better than anything else I have used. Use them for my SWB R75/5 as well as my difficult to crank Ducatis. They hold their charge for months.

Re: Oil leaking from behind timing cover on /5

I replaced gasket on mine and leak stopped. Not sure why they decide to leak after years of being sealed. I think I used some sealer on new gasket.

Re: Engine upgrades 77 r100/7

Hi Bobby, I am across the border from you in Victoria Aust. I was facing similar issues to you with my 1971 R75/5. It had broken a ring. Rather than rebore and new pistons I elected to purchase the Seibenrock 1000cc kit. I also had the heads completely reconditioned locally by a very well respected ...

Re: 71 R75/5 handlebars

Flanders Euro bars are perfect for the /5. Bare end mirrors (Halcyon) fit perfectly on mine. I have a brand new set, still in wrapping. Bike fell off stand and bent origional Flanders bars so i bought a new set, but was able to straighten the origional bars. Could sell them to you but freight to US ...

Re: Batteries - a confession

Best ive come across is Motobatt. I have them in my difficult to crank Ducatis and they are absolutely fantastic. Bikes can sit for months and fire up immediately. Not possible with any other brand ive tried. And no more expensive than the normal Yuasa etc. Available in Australia.

Re: Aftermarket coil options?

Hi Josh, I am running the Dyna 3 ohm coil (the green one) on my 1971 R75/5. It will work with standard points set up also. I am running it in conjunction with an Alpha Classic electronic ignition. Its working beautifully. The advance mechanisms and bosch coils on these old girls are 40+ years old no...

Re: High speed wobble

Hi Brad,
My 1972 R75/5 SWB had the same wobble at 80mph and above. These SWB models are well known for this wobble. I recently fitted a pair of Avon AM 26 tyres to the old girl and problem has vanished. Unexpected but welcome outcome.
Cheers

Re: R75/5 jetting for Siebenrock kit

Thanks Barry. That seems logical. I am currently running the standard carb set up with #135 jets. Rebuilt carbs recently and replaced all jets etc as per Haynes manual. The only thing i didnt do was service the choke bodies. Both manuals recommend main jets sizes from #130 upto #160 for 32mm carbs. ...
