Rear brake pedals

Post by Nourish »

I'm putting together another R100 and I want to use a rear disc brake and am looking for a brake pedal to suit. I see that BMW changed part numbers in 1980 - does anyone know what changes they made to the part? - it looks the same!

I have an 81 brake pedal and an earlier 79, I think it is. There are differences in offsets and pivot bore sizes etc. I have three good photos showing the difference and if photobucket wasn't so bloody slow and didn't fail to upload so often I'd put them all up. I'm trying for one pic at the moment... If it works I'll update my post with the pics.

Thanks for the pictures - I gather the wigley one with the larger bore is the '79 one.

I was looking at the upgraded swing arm with the drive shaft with the spring in it. Seems that using this on an older model requires moving the brake light switch location and bit of bending here and there to align the activation mechanism. Will any of these other brake levers help in the change over ?
