1985 K100 for Parts?

Post by radarcarve »

I have a 1985 K100 that is way past it's prime. Runs, but it is cosmetically very sad. I am thinking about parting it out but I wonder what the demand might be for parts of this bike. Anybody have any thoughts?

I have 14,000+ transactions on Ebay, so I don't really want info on how to track parts sales, especially since most are overpriced and don't sell, or at least not often. What I want is a sense of the demand for K100 parts. I don't personally like the bikes, for I am a boxer fan... just want to get a sense of it all... how many people are repairing or rebuilding the K100.

The 85 is unique. Many parts only fit the 85 while the rest of the years all interchange, so you can't compare many of the 85 parts prices and availability to those of the rest of the K100 years.

I don't know how the parts prices compare between 85 and later, but for may parts you will have less competition but a far smaller market.
