98R1100RT

Post by ibjman »

I have the front sliders off the bottom of the front forks and am preparing to replace the seals. The left one especially was just pouring oil out the seal. I understand the function and the fact that they are not dampeners.
Looking down in the tubes, It appears as if they have a LOT of oil in them. I intend to dump them so I can clean & paint them.
Can anyone tell me how much new oil to put in and what weight? Can I assume you use fork oil in these?

If you're still looking for the answer to this, you can try the forum at bmwmoa.org if you're a member, and you can most likely get an answer at bmwsporttouring.com too as that online community as all about the Oilhead RT.
