Oz-Boxerworks - Spring run

Post by Mal S7 »

Hi Fellas,

Let's have a run! Its starting to warm up and I just gotta take the KLR camping. What ya reckon? Late September or October?

I been hibernating through winter, when not sleeping I been working long days to the detriment of happiness. But another month of acting like I know what the hell I'm doing and I can take some long weekends to unwind.

Handed the plates in on the Beemer the other day. I will pull it apart this Summer for an unhurried refresh.

cheers

Hi Steve,

Dargo Vic was such a great spot, and about the best ride ever to and from, I'd like to go back thereabouts.

Pearler of a day here, going to get some domestic things done today and go for a ride to Burrendong Dam. We've had such a wet winter it's up from 19% to 75% full. The countryside is green green green. Its gonna be a great Spring, lets go for a run before the fat blowies all come to life.

cheers

Sounds good, chaps. I haven't been to Dargo for a long time.

There are also some good camp spots on the King river near Whitfield and Cheshunt, which is on the northern side of the range.

Is a campsite shitter necessary? Is it ok to make like a bear?

Mal, there's a blowfly buzzing around inside my house at the moment. ;)

Was it busy over the S/E fence Jeff? Someone might've left a casket open?

Either destinations sound fine by me. The last two w/e's in September are currently clear.

I'm in. I love the Dargo area and the campsites there are really good.

Since I don't ever want to ride the High Plains road from Mt Hotham again on road tyres ...

... I'll have to go via the Omeo Highway all the way down to Bairnsdale and across to Dargo from there. Poor me - 400kms of twisty mountain road to endure.

Hey guys!
Count me in... after a damp/chilly w/end camping w Charlie a couple weeks ago a nice bright spring outing sounds just the remedy for the ongoing winter chill.
In saying that I do realise how changeable the weather can be down here in springtime. Someone book in the fine weather now!
Due to work/roster demands my preferred date options would be: Sept 10-11, Sept 24-25, or Oct 8-9.
I'm also hoping to get to the Island for the MotoGP on October 22-23.
In the past I've camped on the creek just behind the (Dargo) pub... convenient and pretty nice grassy area (no facilities on-site but easy walk up to pub if you need a crapper).
But it doesn't really worry me where I pitch the tent.
I'm all ears...

Sept 10-11, workin'. :(
Sept 24-25, can do. :D
or Oct 8-9. unlikely...

I'm not fussed where, but south of the range means water from sky more likely wet blanket.

Charlie...where was that long range forecaster you use? maybe have two options, one south, one north and in the last fortnight choose the one likely to be dry.
