Over the hill and through the woods...
Over the hill and through the woods...
New emblems on the tank, new tire on the rear, splines lubed and carbs synced. I took a ride over the Saddle and saw a few rare endangered Nene geese by the side of the road. Took a break by a kipuka, an island of green in a sea of lava flows. Wandered down to the Puna side and took a few more pictures of the mangrove tree tunnel area near the coast. Finally another break at Laupahoehoe Point (click on the pics):

For me, photos #1 & #4 are of particular merit. The vantage point of #4 would make a fine picture of a VW coming off that side road as if it was just about to enter the paved road. Nice bike.

Thanks all, glad you liked them. I took many photos that day and some video of the coast road, too. Saw a very nice Champagne Edition Bus and equally nice Squareback. I can totally see the tree picture with a VW in it, but it's rare I'd ride that far in a car anymore. If you want to check out more of my photos, go to http://www.pbase.com/bamboo812/ and check out the video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9RCYZE2xHk sorry for the quality, I think the salt spray got on the lens. Turn the sound down!

Nice photos Tim! Those are some bizarre but very cool trees in 4 & 5.
I tried clicking on the pics, but nothing happened.
