Alternative Spring Rally !

Post by bbelk »

As a onetime alternative to Ken’s spring rally, would there be any interest in having the May rally in Austin Texas?

We have good riding around here (Fredericksburg, Luchanbach, a bunch of lakes, etc.) and I have the facilities and space to host (covered deck, shop, indoor and outdoor showers and room for several RVs and lots of tents).

Ken says he will lend us the flag, so it would be official and everything.

No date has been set, but May is wide open for me. If there is intrest, setting a date would be the first step.

Edits to add the list of interested people and there input regarding a date!
The event will be Thursday through Monday.
There are four weekends in May.
Weekend 1 May 5-9
Weekend 2 May 12-16
Weekend 3 May 19-23
Weekend 4 May 26-30
Please rank the weekends that work for you.

BBelk (me) - All weekends work. My ranking would be 2,4,3,1
30yearoldjunk (no dates given yet)
acr80 (they all work)
dwerbil (no dates given yet)
Super Dave (2,4,3,1) with 1 being probably not
Manfred (can only make 4)
Richard T (no dates given yest)
Dwire (no dates given yet)

That is a great idea and a wonderful invitation! Thank you! May is a great time to be in Central Texas.
Austin traffic scares the crap out of me, though.

As well it should..... but I live on the west side of town in the Hill Country. Its not to bad coming and going from the West where all the good riding is.

Well, it's closer, but still not close enough... :(

Interesting to one who has enjoyed the Texas hill country. I will see about this as details become clear.
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1)

Sigh!
I had planned on the Llano rally.

I do have to say though that I'm surprised that no one else (other than Rob) is offering locations.

I'm thinking that regardless of the location (even multiple locations), the dates should still be set.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week One (5th-8th) is out - Cinco de Mayo on the 5th & Mother's Day on the 8th.
(Annual Buzzard Bottom 4, NC)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week Two (12th-15th) looks good.
(Natural State Rally, AR)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week Three (19th-22nd) - Armed Forces Day & Judgement Day both on the 21st.
(37th Annual Great River Road Rally, WI)
(13th European Riders Rally, KY)
(The DownEast Rally, ME)
(The 12th Annual Riding Into History Motorcycle Concours, FL)
(30th RoadRunner Rally, AZ)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week Four (26th-29th) - Might be good, might not - Memorial Day on the 30th
(39th 2011 ‘49er Rally, CA)
(23rd “Great Chicken Rally in Rocket City”, AL)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tell me if I'm missing any events for the above.
