Front forks 1982 R100

Post by FMurtz »

R100 ex police which is probably akin to R100RT
Just put new seal on a front fork, had the lower slider off for a week, replaced everything and put 225ml oil in.
Is any oil retained in the top section that would not have drained out, because a wire dipstick shows about 14" and I thought I saw somewhere it should have been 12"

Have you pumped the forks up and down a few times?

Just put new seal on a front fork
Does that mean you only changed one. What year is this bike?
Any and all disclaimers may apply

Hopefully he's referring to the 1982 bike mentioned in the thread title!

There is only one I have trouble with, I had both re chromed and this one although it is within spec range it is only just.I have just fitted new seal and cheated a bit and tightened garter spring as an experiment hoping it may hold.
