Need some brake help

Post by jagarra »

I started ridding my Triumph around town this Summer and the brakes suck. Ordering new shoes for rear is no issue, but the front is the problem. The front forks are a set of Ceriani units that I believe came off a Montesa, so my front drum is Montesa. Looking at the Ferodo application guide is not much help, doesn't go back far enough. They do show an old model set FSB851 with dimensions of 30mm X 140mm. Of course they don't indicate what the 140 measurement is referenced to. So I am looking for a Ferodo front shoe number for a model Cappra Mondesa. That is the 250cc model I believe my hub came from based on picture comparisons I managed to find on the internet.

Obviously you've done internet research to no avail.
Look for a local shop that specializes in relining brake shoes.

Took the wheel off and pulled the brake assembly, turned out it is 25 x 180mm in size. Found a nice replacement according to drawing on the Ferodo application chart. Called a distributor for their brakes and was told it is NLA. So I am going to contact Vintage brake and have them install a lining that will stop the bike
Better.
