Bmw r65ls carburetors

Post by Charlespvdw »

Hi all

I have been on a goose chace for the last 2 years trying to figure out what should be a simple fix on this air head but cannot seem to find a solution.

I did a nut and bolt restoration on an 1983 R65LS, which ran perfectly before by the way.

After the rebuild I could not get the timing right, which eventually got a bit better after realizing the bean can was sitting too tight after the respray and could not adjust in small enough degrees.

Then I struggled with the carbs, which I a still could not figure out.

I rebuilt them with all new internals and one new carb itself from Cytech. Followed the boxer2valve youtube video for the adjustment on the butterflys and floats.

I recently adjusted the needles to the same lengths. Adjusted the AF to half a turn out.

Now when I start it, the right side piston fires up and the left side spatters but never really comes to life.

I need advice please?

Even if it means rebuilding the carbs again with someone else's experience.. I am open to suggestions.
