LWB /5 /6 question...

Post by Matt »

Howdy all. Ive got a technical question about the difference between a LWB 1973 & a half /5 and later model LWB Airheads.
The question... Does the LWB tool box out of say a R100/7 fit in a LWB /5 chassis?
I think I know the answer, I just need verification here...
Thanks
Matt

My /6 tool box doesn't fit my /5 LWB. I think the sub frame is different. The new R65 sort of fits.

hi Jeff. thanks for the prompt reply. Do you have tool boxes for both LWB bikes. can you post a pic of the 2 tool boxes to show the difference. Im not in front of my parts book, the one that might show the variation. I was looking at MaxBMW on line for parts info & there are only 2 part numbers one for SWB & R65 and the LWB version.
Thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt, I don't have one for my /5 and tried to use a /6 and it was way off. I do know that my /5 is a long wheel base, but I don't know if it is totally stock. I'll be sorting it out this winter. Hucky's shows a /5 box on the seat page and doesn't state short or long. Han's at Hucky's would know the answer.

The tool tray from My '78R100s won't fit the frame space of MY /5, (Dumpy) either. Tool tray too long.
Tried it.
