This tranny after all does have over 250k's on it.
I didn't mention earlier that I also have a cement mixer for re-assembly.
Do the mixer first. You can use it for a parts washer.

Seems strange after the last oil change, and in about 1800 miles the chips showed-up.
Did you change type of oil?
it just doesn't make real good sense that for nearly 250,000 miles nothing happened, then: oil change and now metal particles.
I know if you think about THAT too hard it is rather disconcerting...

Howdy Jean, it would be 8-10,000k since the last oil change (last september) with no chips on the plug.
The tranny has been opened twice in that 250,000 and bearings replaced, but most all other components are original.
I'm not surprised at the chips. I'm actually more surprised at how long it took to start showing chips!

PS. I did about 80 k today and dropped the oil again. Five or six or so little chips again........new, or just what was already floating around in there is unknown.
Anyway, oil's drained and the tranny is ready for extraction. Whenever.

OK.
I must have misread the milage number in the earlier post.
Hope it's not the GEARS!!
