New Shoe-

Post by lrz »

Though I will probably go w/ the Bridgestone Spitfire, I was looking at some "retro" treads: Dunlop K70 and Avon Safety Tread.

My sense is these should be paired w/ a mated front for best results, but I only need one new shoe at present...

A search here turned up tire as too common, so I am open and appreciative of input regarding the Spitfire choice & also curious about anyone running the vintage tread patterns.

I have never used these tires before. 99% used Metzelers. Do tell what they are like? Wear and grip?

Spitfires are cheap, I got a pair delivered to Hawaii for $120, and they have two compounds; harder in the center to last longer and stickier on the edges for grip. Billed as an all around sport/touring tire.

My back tire is close to being changed. Last one went on 7k ago. So might look into a Spitfire.

Spitfires are fine. They are not a high performance tire. So if you like to really burn through the mountains there are better choices. How do you ride?
