Someone mentioned "Gorilla Snot" glue to put the engine side badges on. I've just seen an ad for Gorilla glue from america at the local auto parts shop. is this the same stuff?

I have used 3M Weatherstip Adhesive (in black) for roundels. Rock solid.

Gorilla glue dries to a rigid, sort of foamy state. On a par with epoxy, methinks. I have reservations about it withstanding the vibration to the same extent that the rubbery type glues do.

The term Gorilla Snot comes from the color of the yellowish 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive that is recommended...it's not the brand name you mention. I've used this on each of my engine badges on the /7. Be careful in placement of the badge whenever gluing it back on. Mistakenly, my left badge is a smidge too far to the rear...makes getting off the air cleaner cover a bit more of a challenge!

Kurt, as usual, is correct in all respects. It was the standard in my shop for engine badges and tank knee pads.

I would be shocked if that isn't something better these days.

Thanks for the posts. I knew if I sent the message last night, I'd have the answer to my question before going to town this morning.

I thought there would have been some sort of locally made sticky resinous products available?

Gday Shell-be

I've always used clear silicon rubber
"sealastic"
works well for sticking on those engine badges

cheers

I like Fusor #170 industrial strength clear double sided 2.2 cm wide tape. It is very durable and easy to use without the glue oozing mess or wait time. Their web site is www.fusor.com.
