Been talked about in several publications. In this youtube video, in the first 10 seconds, you see Peter Nettesheim ride by on that very bike.

He was at the 2011 MOA National Rally in Bloomsburg, not showing that bike, but displayed several of his others, including an R32. He mentioned, either at the rally or in one of his articles, that the ride on the R7 almost didn't happen. BMW and Peter have a very close relationship. Peter was at the Amelia Island show and the R7 was there. BMW asked him to ride it (it won a prize in the show so it had to be ridden as part of the festivities)...he thought about it for nanosecond and said yes. But the problem was the bike hadn't been started in several years. The question of gas and a battery came up. I think he "stole" gas from a Honda generator and had to find a good battery somewhere. It was difficult to start bit it eventually got going. That must have been quite an experience.

Yeah, I'd love to have a Black Shadow, a Brough Superior, a flathead Indian twin, and maybe a nice original condition (genuine patina) R75, but I'd take that R7 over any of those others.

Edit: Oh, and anything Mike Hailwood ever touched.

The only Vincent that I got to ride was a Rapide. It surely was different.
