I have a 1992 R100RT with 30k. It is just about impossible to start when it is cold. I mean 45F or below. Where should I look for the cause of this problem? Something easy to check is the jet located in the fuel bowl. Put some fuel in the bowl and use a compressor to blow down the passage in the bo...

Is the jet in each fuel bowl clear? They can easily block up with crud when a bike sits for a while. You will need a air line to check. If one is blocked, bake will be hard to start.
