Re: One down, one to go (I hope!)

...So with a break in the weather over here I managed to spend some time with my toolbox and the Bike today. The bike is still running rough intermittently but I am sure, it is NOT fuel or air related. I think it is electrical. After extensive reading and re-reading and re-reading on this site on AB...

Re: One down, one to go (I hope!)

A brief update... I have been unable to get out on the bike over the last week due to work but tonight I got a chance to get a look. It started easily and sounded fine, with no hesitancy etc. I decided to take it out and have a 'feel'. It ran sweetly and pulled sweetly. I gave it a blast and it seem...

Re: One down, one to go (I hope!)

It was lumpy and hesitant when I gently turned the throttle then would suddenly surge Do you mean suddenly run healthily? What happens when throttle backed off again? What happens when throttle is increased past where the engine 'surges'? I'll try to be more clear in what I meant by 'surge'. When I...

Re: One down, one to go (I hope!)

Thanks to all for the info. Here's an update on the bike...the problem persists but with encouragement like: "The mind draws dragons into the blank areas of the chart..." I proceed into the darkness... I have checked all 4 HT leads and boots and plug caps and all appear in very good order ...

One down, one to go (I hope!)

happy days i spent riding the south coast of UK on my days off. Smug atop 'Rusty James', my 1986 BMW r80 mono. I say smug because as if you read my first post, I managed to discover the gremlin behind my intermittent starting problem (with the as yet gracious help of the forum) and learning a lot al...

Re: Keep Your Revs Up!!!

Hello all, I have been away from computers and on the bike as much as possible but as the weather really begins to kick in here on the South Coast of UK I thought I'd update my post. I'm new to internet forums and as a result my initial post slipped my mind. The problem I was having with the difficu...

Keep Your Revs Up!!!

Hi I'm quite new to boxers and the forum but my 1986 R80 Mono has been suffering from the old electrical/ charging gremlins. The main problem was with erratic starting and the old familiar click clicking/ machine gun rattling/ of the spinning starter, (it is the starter/ solenoid right?) and the eng...

BIKINI COCKPIT FAIRING

Hi, This is my first post. I have just bought a BMW R80 mono. I'll get around to putting some pics up soon Its been customised a little already toward a cafe racer style but with a 2 up seat. Its a naked bike but I am keen to fit some kind of small bikini type fairing to help with touring. I wanted ...
