Re: Fuel injection
I e-mailed Silent Hektik many months ago and asked them about the cost of the kit. If I recall, it was about $3,000. So, some time after that, I e-mailed again to arrange payment. This time, they refused to sell it to me. I suspect that they're just wanting to sell to racers with a full stable of me...

Re: Undoing R80 exhaust pipe nuts ?
If you notice that the nut on the right cylinder is coming off nicely, but the nut on the left cylinder is requiring a bit of work, stop immediately! Take a look at the radii of the two exhaust pipes. The left pipe begins to bend immediately as it leaves the cylinder head flange. The right pipe has ...

Re: Suggested Break-in - New Rings
I've used the link below for three different engines now (a rebuilt Honda Civic, a 1972 slash/5 with new pistons and rings, and a brand new Kawi 250 Ninja). The guy will never win any awards for website design, but he's right on the money with regard to engine break-in. http://www.mototuneusa.com/br...

Re: Magic ignitions
What I find disturbing is that Bill Blake still sells these things. It is known that a certain percentage are faulty. It is also known that some creative fitment is needed to get them into the bean cans. And once that occurs, the buyer (as I found out) can't return the unit. The Motorrad specialist ...

Re: Magic ignitions
I ordered a Boyer ignition, new coils, and new plug wires, which I hope will get here on Tuesday, leaving me one or two days to get them installed and debugged. Bill Blake at Rocky Point Cycle was very nice and helpful. He says about 25% of the R65s have a problem with their tachometer after instal...

Re: Fuel injection
Does anyone know if the Silent Hektik system is closed loop? (I can't read German).

Re: boyer electronics
And below is my reply to the importer: Thanks Bill. I'll try that. I'm not sure when, because I'll be on the look-out for a spare bean can to put the system in (because the fitment problems I mentioned before). But I guess I'd also like to know if Boyer ever tested their unit in a 1979-80 R65. I don...

Re: boyer electronics
Here's the latest from Boyer (below the dotted line). Supposedly I have a bad wiring connection somewhere, and the reason that the stock points work -- whereas the Boyer system doesn't -- is that the slower points system is "masking" the connection problem. So the old technology magically ...

Re: boyer electronics
Here's the latest from the U.S. distributor, Rocky Point Cycle, (which, by the way, has probably been the most courteous and helpful retailer of any product that I've ever had the pleasure to deal with): Interesting that I have another customer with the same problem, who also has a 1979 R65 with OE ...

Re: boyer electronics
The only way I could set it with the strobe was at the S mark at idle. That's all I could find, since both the tach and the engine rev's in neutral were a bit chaotic with the Boyer installed. I could briefly see the F mark flash by at some point, but getting it to stay so that I could adjust the ro...
