Re: Removing the carbon build-up in side the combustion cham
As long as all the loose and protruding chunks are gone, the remainder won't make any functional difference.

Re: owning a BMW DOES NOT make you special
[quote="Major Softie"][quote= When was the last time you had a bunch of ignorant squids passing you on the right and over the double yellow line - on Harleys? If someone is hogging the left part of the lane and oblivious to my presence behind him because he does not use his mirrors, I wil...

Re: U joint
That's what they did with the Paralever. On ALL Paralever bikes, it is normal to see the ring of grease that was flung out of the OE nipple-less joints onto the inner swingarm walls. Scary but normal. Centrifugal force propels all lubricants out of the U-joint roller bearings. The only lubricant tho...

The prognosis looks promising!
Plugs and compression A-OK.
Oil pressure 70psi at idle.
Ordered new con rod bearings and bolts.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I won't see anything else wrong when it's apart.
Maybe I'll fix it with my eyes closed, just in case...

Ball and spring
Check that tricky little ball thingy behind the oil filter (if fitted). It might be your turn. I will definitely check that check valve (for the first time ever) I have a new ball, and a new spring. Still waiting for the retainer. I was going to replace it at my next filter change anyway. I don't t...

Guesstimate
Damn. Fek. Horror indeed, GS. I bet you didn't know where to put your face. I attach a steaming mound of sympathy from Oz. ps: please update final figure in thread header after repair. Thank you for the steaming lump. I know a con rod knock when I hear it. Repairs should be in the $100 to $2000 ran...

elusive zeroes, delay at (3)98,994
I thought I would be rolling it over to (4)00000kms this weekend. it ran perfectly this morning on the way to the Trenton rally, only 420kms... ...BUT, on the way back it developed a con rod knock. I limped it home (350kms) at 100-110 km/h while my loyal buddies continued on their merry 150-160 km/h...
