Possibly the fuel overflow hose is cracked.Had to replace mine after years /heat took it's toll on the material.Good luck. It may well have. Hi Jean, you are right. My bad - the front cover vs. timing chain cover. Good point about being
caught in the alternator. The mysterious piece is light-weight, too.

Update: success - spanner was in my kit and turned-up the adjuster on the monoshock. Still sorting out some other
issues so can't ride it right now. I bet it works just fine now.
