Battery Charge Question - 1992 R100GS
Hiya all, The battery on my airhead died. After some research, I purchased a Dry Charge Yuasa Lead-Acid Battery. I filled the battery with the acid according to the instructions and connected my BMW Advanced Battery Charging System (Programmed for BMW Gel Batteries...of course  ). MY SETUP: ht...

Re: How can I tell if my battery is bad vs. bad charging sys
Actually, a friend came over when this happened and "checked the charge voltage" when it was running. He's an auto mechanic. He wasn't able to diagnose the problem (I know!) I've done the googling. I've read that article. I've also asked mechanics. Haven't gotten an answer. Perhaps I'm not...

How can I tell if my battery is bad vs. bad charging system?
Hello- I have a 1986 R80/RT. I have one of those BMW Exide(sp?) 12V 19A batteries. Bought it last year. I've left the lights on a few times since then. I'm not sure what my next step should be. Here's the blow-by-blow. 1. Drove 20 miles last week on the highway to destination. Left lights on. Roll s...

Re: Buying my first GS. Couple of questions
Very few miles on it. Can he authenticate them with records? Has the final drive ever had any work done to it? I'd wanna see service docs. At that price, it'd sell pretty quick here in Oz. If the mileage is true, it might get $7K + here. Thank you Steve, He says he purchased the bike in 1992 so I w...

Re: Buying my first GS. Couple of questions
It looks like a nice bike that he is not in a hurry to get rid of (if the price tag is any indicator). you think so? i thought the price seemed quite reasonable. i looked on the 'net and found most selling for 4-7K USD. but if you mean $5000 is a lot of scratch to spend on a used bike in a down eco...

Buying my first GS. Couple of questions
I live in the city and use my old beat-up 1986 R80 for getting around. Im tall (6'4") and i thought it was time for me (and my wife) to have a little more safety and comfort. I checked out a 1992 R100GS today. Rode it up the back roads. The riding position! The fairing! The solidity! Man am I e...
