Re: Where to Obtain a 3/4 Seat?

Note that the rubber trim is just that; you can see clear through the seat without the "handles" which is probably why BMW calls them "covers" It isn't clear in the Meyer site, but you can see the underside of the upholstery through the trapezoid? holes in the sides of the seat. ...

Re: need trip advice

Toronto is a higher altitude than Florida, but the vantage point, and view, is from a mound of snow. Compare weather reports from the Keys and Toronto in Jan. and you will see the appeal of the Keys. Just a chance for a winter ride, if I really crave warmth then, Cuba is just another 1/2 hour furthe...

need trip advice

Planning a fly-ride-fly trip for 2nd week of January. My portion of the planning is from the morning of Jan 10 until noon of Jan 12. We (4 guys) will be in Marathon Florida on the 10th, and have to be in the vicinity of Orlando airport by noon on the 12th (to return our rented Triumphs!!!). We have ...

Re: Where to Obtain a 3/4 Seat?

I bought one of the RS copies from Meyer several months ago. Cost about $500 (CDN) landed here in Canada. Very comfortable, more so than the other café seat that Meyer sells, (not as hard) The only problem is the handles (covers in BMW-speak) They are no longer available according to BMW Canada, Mey...

Where shall we go, what shall we do?

We (4 guys) will be in Marathon Florida on the 10th, and have to be in the vicinity of Orlando airport by noon on the 12th. We have no desire to spend much time on fre...

engine clean up

I recall that GSPD some time ago published his technique for keeping his engine clean looking. From the pics of his ride then, it was a workable system. It was a lengthy tome; did anyone here save it? If so let me know and I'll contact you to get a copy of it.

Re: 1975 R75/6 Seat Removal

Further to my last post. I bought a replica RS 3/4 seat from der Fatherland, and screwed an M6 bolt into the rearmost of the 3 front hinge mounting holes. It lines up PERFECTLY with the hole in the cross member - abeam of, and slightly behind the seat locking pin. Since I already have a few inches o...

Re: A fun little page....

I actually saw a dude doing this years ago, on a 2 lane road, with no divider, at highway speeds. I can still remember he was standing on his seat, arms stretched out to each side, looking down (I'd be looking UP in anticipation of my next stop) so that I could only see the top of his (safety first)...

Bob's BMW Replica shocks

I bought a pair of Replica shocks from Bob's back in march and recently installed them (Procrastination is an Art Form) I bought them primarily because they have the handles attached for spring preload adjustment, rather than having to dig out your tool roll whenever you want to give some sweet youn...

Re: 1975 R75/6 Seat Removal

On a related matter, has anyone with a /7 or later (up to monoshock) tried this mod? My 1982 R100 had a previous owner who modified a monoshock seat so I can't find out on my own bike but I'd like to get a seat that lets me lift it off. I'm reluctant to buy a new seat for fear of isn't possible. (I'...
